Hurricane Ian: Update!

Hello everyone!

As you may know, Florida recently had a nice ole hurricane. I have never been in a hurricane before so this was a first for me. All of the hurricane prep was new for me- buying non-perishables in case we lose power, storing drinking water in various containers in case we lose water, filling the bathtub with water to manually flush the toilet in case that doesn't work. It was all so overwhelming. But through it all, God was with us.

Right now, I am in Orlando. In Orlando, we didn't get hit as hard as we thought we would. Hurricane Ian was just a Tropical Storm when he hit Orlando, not a full hurricane, so we didn't get as much damage as Cuba and the coast of Florida did.

Thankfully we had power and running water during the whole hurricane time. We had to change our schedule a bit and adapt to our new circumstances, but overall it went well.

On Wednesday, we had a session on the cultures of the countries we are going to. I put a picture below of everyone sitting on the couches and floor because that was our workspace for the day!

On Thursday, I taught a session on the 3D Gospel. This is a short book that talks about the three different types of cultures and how we can best share the gospel in those cultures. I loved taking time to learn about this and share it with others because culture is something so near to my heart.

On Friday, I will be teaching a session on cross-cultural servanthood based on the book by Duane Elmer. We will still be in the living room on the floor because the Cru office is closed.

We thank God for the work and trainings we've been able to continue through the hurricane. We also are praying for the people and places that Hurricane Ian has devastated. Please join us in praying.
